Chapter 03
Hospitality solves problems.
Instead of creating positions, we solve guest problems. Every team exists because a real person needs a real answer. Hospitality isn't reactive — it's proactive.
Radical Hospitality Teams
Where you might serve.
Hospitality is constantly evolving to remove barriers and improve the guest experience. Each team is an opportunity to grow — talk to your team lead about where you fit best.
During the Service
Quietly remove distractions.
Once service begins, your role shifts from welcoming to protecting the worship environment. Handle every situation calmly, quietly, and with grace.
Busy Bags
Offer to families with young children to keep little ones engaged and quiet during the message.
Water for Coughing Guests
Quietly offer a bottle to anyone with a persistent cough to minimize disruption.
Cleaning Spills
Address spills immediately and discreetly to prevent hazards and distraction.
Helping Late Arrivals
Guide latecomers during natural pauses; minimize aisle disruption for those already seated.
Rule of thumb
If it would distract you from worship, it will distract someone else. Handle it — quietly, quickly, and gracefully.
Your Responsibilities
Know your role before doors open.
Welcome People
Greet every person who walks through the door with warmth and genuine hospitality. Set the tone from the first moment.
Help Guests & Families Find Seats
Proactively assist guests and families — especially those with children — in finding the right seat quickly.
Assist with Handouts, Communion & Baptisms
Serve with attentiveness and care so every experience feels organized, welcoming, and moves smoothly.
Help Reset the Room
After service, restore the space fully — return chairs, collect materials, and clear aisles. Leave it better than you found it.
